Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 13, 2026
smith lab ("the site") values your privacy and complies with applicable laws. This policy explains what information the site handles and how. The Korean version (개인정보처리방침) has the same content.
1. Personal information we collect
The site has no sign-up, login or contact form, and does not directly collect your personal information. Values you enter into the tools (salary, date of birth, text and so on) are processed only inside your browser and are not sent to the site operator's server. The only exception is the AI analysis feature in section 7, which sends photos to an external AI service only when you choose to use it.
2. Browser storage (localStorage)
For convenience, the following may be stored only in your device's browser storage. It is never sent to the operator, and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
- Display theme (dark/light)
- Drafts in some text tools (temporary save)
3. First-party cookies
The site uses small cookies that work only on this site (smithlab.co.kr) for the convenience features below. All cookie names start with smith_ and are kept for one year from the last time they were saved.
- Game records — best scores, number of plays, last chosen difficulty and an in-progress 2048 board for the mini games (2048, reaction time test, Minesweeper, typing test and others)
- Recently used tools — the names of up to six tools for a "recently used" list
- Theme — your dark/light choice (stored together with browser storage)
These cookies contain no information that identifies you, such as a name or email address. They are stored only in your browser; because the site is made of static pages, the operator does not collect them or read them on a server. They are not shared with other devices or browsers.
How to delete them: each game has a "reset record" button for its own record. To delete everything, clear this site's (smithlab.co.kr) cookies and site data in your browser settings — for example, in Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies (or Site data) → See all site data and permissions; in Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. If you block cookies, all calculators and games still work; only records are not saved.
4. Hosting and access logs
The site is a static website served through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), with its source code hosted on GitHub (GitHub, Inc.). While delivering the service, these providers may process technical logs such as IP addresses for security and operations under their own privacy policies. Web fonts may be delivered through Google Fonts.
5. Online multiplayer games (P2P)
Online multiplayer games such as Sky Arena have no game server; browsers in the same room connect directly to each other (peer-to-peer) via WebRTC. In the process, information is handled as follows.
- Shared with players in the same room: the nickname you choose, in-game data such as plane position, shots and score, and — because of how P2P connections work — your IP address may be passed to the browsers of other players in the room. If you don't want to share your IP address with strangers, play with friends using a room code or use the AI practice mode instead of public quick match.
- Connection setup: the information needed to set up the connection (session description and network candidate addresses) is exchanged in encrypted form through public Nostr relays, and public STUN servers (such as Google's) are used to find a network path. These services may process IP addresses under their operators' policies.
- Not stored: game content, chat and scores are not sent to or stored on the operator's server. Your nickname and personal records are stored only in your browser's cookies.
6. Analytics (Google Analytics) and third-party cookies
To understand how the site is used and improve it, the site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to collect the information below, which does not directly identify you.
- Pages visited, time and length of visit, and how you arrived (search engine, link and so on)
- Browser and device type, operating system, screen size and approximate location (country/city level)
Values you enter into tools (salary, date of birth, text and so on) are never sent to Google Analytics. The collected information is stored on Google's servers (including outside your country, such as in the United States) and handled under Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How to opt out: block this site's cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Opting out does not affect any feature of the site.
6-1. Advertising (Google AdSense) and advertising cookies
To cover running costs, the site displays or may display ads through Google AdSense, an advertising service of Google LLC.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- You can learn how Google uses data from partner sites here.
If you opt out of advertising cookies, you may still see ads, but they will be general ads not based on your browsing history. Values entered into tools and quizzes are never sent to advertising services.
7. AI photo analysis (Instagram feed first-impression analyzer, Korean site)
When you analyze photos in the Instagram feed first-impression analyzer with "Analyze with AI" turned on, the photos you upload (JPEGs resized to 1280px on the long side, up to four) are sent through the site's relay server (Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare, Inc.) to the Google Gemini API (Google LLC) to generate a comment.
- The operator does not store photos or results. The relay server only forwards the request and keeps no record; to prevent abuse it uses your IP address briefly (one minute), in memory only.
- Under the free Gemini API terms, Google may use submitted content to provide and improve its services, and data may be processed outside your country (such as in the United States). See the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service for details.
- We recommend not uploading sensitive photos such as faces or personal information. With "Analyze with AI" turned off, photos never leave your browser and only color analysis is performed.
